The American Cultural Association (ACA) is pleased to announce the 31st All-ALC Conference, the largest gathering of English-language educators in Morocco. As the not-for-profit, bi-national parent organization of the American Language Centers (ALC) in Morocco, the ACA is dedicated to promoting English as a foreign language education.
The 31st All-ALC Conference provides an opportunity for English teachers, teacher trainers, EdTech developers and curriculum designers from Morocco and beyond to come together, learn from one another, and explore new ideas in the field of English as a Foreign Language (EFL) education.

Participants at the 31st All-ALC Conference will return to their classrooms with renewed passion, practical strategies, and a deeper sense of purpose in shaping the future of English language education, empowered to create more engaging, inclusive, and transformative language learning experiences across Morocco and beyond.

Igniting Curiosity & Inquiry in the English Language Classroom
Research tells us that one of the keys to successful language learning is through engagement and motivation in the classroom. However, this is often easier said than done. In this session we’ll explore how the power of curiosity and inquiry-based learning (IBL) can spark our learners’ creativity, renewing their sense of motivation and transforming them from passive recipients to active participants. We’ll examine how real-world content, coupled with an IBL approach, big questions, and visual storytelling can spark engagement, deepen understanding, and build language skills. Participants will leave with practical strategies to foster curiosity, promote critical thinking, and create meaningful learning experiences that go beyond the textbook – empowering students to ask questions, seek answers, and connect language learning to the world around them.

CLOSING PLENARY
Getting Engaged: What does motivation look like for teachers and students?
What does it mean to be engaged in your work? What are the things that motivate you – and language teachers in general? In this talk we’ll look at what motivates you personally (by means of a short survey), and tie this to engagement theory. What are the things that can make you feel like an “organisational citizen” of the ALC? We’ll also look at what engages and motivates our students, and compare the two. What would you like more of in the workplace? How can you (and others) make that happen? By the end of the session you should take away both a way for you to feel more motivated in your work, and a way to help your students be more motivated in their learning.
