Kenitra based musician Taha El Hmidi is only 30 years old and already making his way to the top league of Moroccan jazz guitarists. He won the Amsli Amaynou Jazz Talent Contest in Agadir in 2018. “Out Of nowhere” is the first EP album he produced as a band leader and it is his most personal work yet, in which the guitarist presents himself as a personally and musically mature artist. Taha oscillates between Jazz and Neo Soul, garnished with a pinch of Rock and a few psychedelic sounds. Distorted guitars, echo effects, tape-recorder-like delays and loops – all of these belong to Taha’s new sound, with which he takes his listeners on a musical journey.
